My name is Elmar Nieser and I have been working with 3ds Max and V-Ray since 2002. Aside from being employed as graphics designer, I also see CG graphics as a passion and hobby of mine. On the 'My Work' section of this website you can find a selection of the work I did either as freelancer, employe or hobbyist.
If you are intrested in my work and would like me to make an offer for your visualisation/animation, please feel free to contact me. I'm corrently in a position to pick up any kind of 3D related project on freelance base.
I consider myself an all-round 3D graphics artist as I do most projects from concept to post-production. I am not specialized in a single aspect of 3D graphics design and while some artists do specialize in modeling, animation, texturing, lighting, or post-production, I have enough experience dealing with these various aspects to create the work you will find in this portfolio.
While I started out as hobbyist and self-thought, I have since succesfully completed a 3ds Max Professional course and I am a certified Autodesk 3ds Max Associate.
In my spare time I have written two tutorials for people wanting to learn Autodesk 3ds Max and who have no experience at all with 3D graphics software. Please feel free to copy, share or link to these tutorials as they are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike.

Recently I've been experimenting with WebGL, and it resulted in a real-time model viewer based on the GLGE library. Imagine presenting your products in your webpage this way. WebGL is not a plugin, so it doesn't require any plugin installation like Adobe Flash. Click the image to see the live demo (Only newer browsers support WebGL).

Ceiga magazine has featured my work in one of their Ceiga issues. Ceiga picked my Coke Bottle visualisation and selected the render due to it's ambiental lighting and materials.
This is a commercial reel I did for ASCOM commissioned by Toelgroep Netherlands. It is part of a series of product visualizations I did for ASCOM and Toelgroep. This one shows a nurse call handset and all it's functionality, these are the handsets you find on the side of hospital beds.
The models are based on existing CAD data. Modelling is done in 3ds Max, lighting and materials with V-Ray. This project was a great learning experience as it was my first time working with CAD based models.
This is a 3D model of a BMW 335i Coupe (2011). I made this model for fun and practice. This model is made using the old fashioned poly-modeling technique, wich I (now) think is not really suited for 3D car modelling as it is more time-consuming compared to other techniques, such as spline-based modeling.
This is a very high-detail visualisation of our home planet Earth, spinning. The modeling and animating was done in Autodesk 3ds Max and rendering was done in V-ray. The actual model consists of 7 seperate layers with each seperate layer itself having multiple texture layers. For example, for the clouds I used one seperate layer and more than 6 texture layers, each having complicated falloff maps.
This is an animation out of a series I did for a client (a Dutch billiards player training company).
This is an animation of a bending spoon (as seen in the The Matrix). I made this animation for fun and practice. I used the soft-body property of the cloth modifier to bend the spoon.
This is a 3D model of a TW Steel Watch. I made this model for fun and practice.
This is a 3D model of a MINI Coooper S Rim. I made this model for fun and practice.
Feel free contact me about my work or any 3ds Max or V-Ray related question. If you are intrested in my work and would like me to make an offer for your visualisation/animation, please feel free to contact me. I'm corrently in a position to pick up any kind of 3D related project on freelance base.
